Hayden Poulter was serving three life sentences for murdering a massage parlour owner and two prostitutes in 1996. His crimes resulted in him being dubbed New Zealand’s first ever serial killer.
He has been given parole after serving his sentence in the country’s Whanganui Prison.
Poulter has completed an adult sex offender treatment programme and now said he took full responsibility for his actions. IN 2013 Poluter said he had done away with his alter ego named ‘Hell’ the persona which he claimed urged him to kill women.
Poulter will be monitored for life by probation officers and is subject to 26 conditions including not using alcohol or drugs ever again or visiting the location of the murders, Auckland.
