A woman who was rescued from serial Killer, Todd Kohlhepp, appeared in court this week seeking damages from her captor.
Kala Brown was found inside a metal container unit in November, chained by her neck having spent over two months as a prisoner of Kohlhepp before his eventual arrest. During her captivity she was repeatedly raped and sexually abused. Her boyfriend was one of Kohlhepp’s victims after being shot by the killer.
Brown is seeking $3 million for medical bills and $360 million in punitive damages.
Kohlhepp has been convicted of seven killings and is currently serving seven life sentences. He is currently representing himself and appeared in court in person, though he did not make any objections, ask any questions or make any closing statements.
After the hearing, Brown said, “If it wasn’t for everyone out there, I don’t thin I would be here today,” she said. “I want to thank my team, my family and friends, my Dan and my Lindsay.”
The case awaits a further court date in due course.
