A Hollywood screenwriter and producer has called for police to reopen the investigation into the history of infamous UK serial killer Fred West after he says he was given information which suggests West could have killed more than is known to authorities.
West and his wife Rose were charged with the rapes and murders of twelve young women including two of their own daughters between 1967 and 1987.
Paul Pender says he was approached by a man who worked in a Glasgow abattoir with West’s first wife Rena, who West went on to murder. He believes there are more bodies buried in an allotment in Scotland which West used in the early 60s. He told the Sunday Times there is an “inarguable” case to crack open the West file once more because we “owe it to the victims”.
Pender is also calling for police to look into the circumstances of when West ran over a three-year-old boy in Glasgow with his ice cream truck. At the time it was regarded as a tragic accident but Pender believes West lured the boy into a cul-de-sac and got him to go into the road to retrieve a ball before deliberately reversing over him.
Police Scotland have said they would investigate all reports regardless of time passed.
